Health & Safety Overview

Site-Specific Planning and Documentation

We understand that no two projects are the same. A one-size-fits-all approach to safety is inadequate and dangerous. That is why we begin every project with detailed, site-specific planning.

  • Risk Assessments: Before any work commences, we conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify all potential hazards unique to the site. This process evaluates everything from ground conditions and public access to the specific structural challenges of the building.
  • Method Statements: Following the risk assessment, we produce a detailed Method Statement. This document outlines the exact step-by-step process for safely erecting, altering, and dismantling the scaffold. It serves as a clear blueprint for our teams, ensuring that all safety procedures are understood and followed precisely.

Rigorous On-Site Management

A plan is only effective if it is properly implemented. Our on-site management practices ensure that our high standards are maintained from the first day to the last.

  • Expert Supervision: All scaffolding teams are led by experienced and qualified supervisors holding advanced CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) credentials. Their role is to oversee all work, enforce safety protocols, and act as the primary point of contact for safety management on site.
  • Scaffold Inspections: We conduct routine inspections of all scaffolding structures to ensure their continued integrity. We use the industry-standard Scafftag system to provide a clear visual indicator of the scaffold’s status, confirming it is safe for use. Inspections are carried out at handover, at least every seven days thereafter, and following any event that could compromise the structure's stability, such as adverse weather.
  • Toolbox Talks: We hold regular on-site toolbox talks with our operatives. These short, focused meetings are essential for reinforcing best practices, discussing site-specific hazards, and communicating any updates to safety legislation or company policy.

Continuous Training and Development

A truly safe workforce is a well-trained one. We are committed to the continuous professional development of every team member, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to work safely and effectively.

  • CISRS & CSCS Certification: We have a goal that all site staff hold the appropriate CSCS/CISRS card for their level of training. We support our team members in advancing their qualifications, from apprenticeships for new trainees to supervisory and management courses for experienced staff.
  • In-House & External Training: In addition to mandatory certifications, we run mandatory off-site health and safety training days throughout the year. We also employ external health and safety consultants to provide expert guidance and perform random site inspections, ensuring our practices remain consistent and compliant with the latest legislation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Every site operative is issued with a comprehensive kit of high-quality protective clothing and equipment. PPE is checked regularly and renewed as needed to ensure it always offers the highest level of protection.
