In one of our most complex contracts, P&G Scaffolding delivered a large-scale, bespoke access solution at the historic Greenwich Power Station, facilitating a major asbestos removal and decontamination process.
The primary objective of this project was to provide safe and complete access to the roof of Greenwich Power Station for the removal of old asbestos corrugated sheeting. The sheer scale of the structure presented a significant undertaking, requiring a scaffold installation measuring 150 metres in length and reaching a height of 50 metres.
Our role demanded more than just providing access; it required a meticulously designed solution to overcome unique technical challenges and ensure the protection of historical assets.
This project was defined by its unique set of challenges. A key requirement was the complete protection of an invaluable 15th-century stained-glass window in a neighbouring chapel, which remained in close proximity to the works. This demanded a design that prevented any risk of damage from falling debris or equipment.
This is the type of complex, high-stakes project that showcases P&G Scaffolding's professional expertise. Working closely with our scaffold design team, we produced a bespoke installation that was perfectly fit for purpose. The solution not only provided safe access for the asbestos removal teams but also incorporated robust protection measures, demonstrating our ability to balance large-scale industrial needs with the preservation of irreplaceable heritage.
