“Hitting the road”

Following some persuasion, far too little training and probably one too many cooked breakfasts our managing director Ian Griffiths completed the 2012 London to Brighton bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation. As part of a group of friends and colleagues taking on the fifty four mile challenge, they managed to raise a significant sum for the charity after crossing the finish line on the south coast.

Ian was motivated to complete the ride following the unexpected loss of a colleague in 2011 and despite the agony of aching muscles following the race, plus getting stuck on a broken down coach on the journey back to Kent, he is hoping to ride again this year. If you would like to support Ian and his friends on their next challenge, please follow the link below.

“Training for the future”

As part of our ongoing commitment to training, we are currently supporting seven of our existing scaffold labourers through their scaffolding apprenticeship. This is a journey towards an NVQ Level 2 in Scaffolding and completion of the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) part 1 and 2 certificates. The training will combine on site experience and courses at a National Construction College centre over a two year period. Following the apprenticeship, our staff will be entitled to apply for their CISRS Scaffolder’s card, which is a recognised industry standard and achieve promotion to Scaffolding Operatives within the company. We are confident that all our apprentices have the determination and motivation to succeed, with guidance from not only their college tutors, but also our own highly experienced scaffold supervisors.

Opportunities for two new apprentices…..

One of our company aims is to develop careers in scaffolding for young people. We are currently looking to recruit two new apprentices who have recently left school or college and have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in scaffolding and are prepared to commit to a training scheme. Our preferred candidates will have a willingness to learn and have the ability to take instruction from senior staff. In addition, a head for heights is a prerequisite for this post! If you wish to be considered for the vacancies, please send your CV and contact details by email to Operations Manager Andy Hogben at andy@pandgscaffolding.co.uk.
